I have had the honor of participating in four world-record baseball marathons over the years. These games have provided me with countless fond memories and a very unique life-long bond with a great group of fellow baseball devotees. I must admit that it is fun to tell people that I am a "world record holder."
Much more importantly, I am proud to have been a small part of the significant impact that the funds generated by our fun & games have made for a number of incredible charitable organizations. A history of past events, which have raised nearly $1 million to date, can be found at https://worldrecordbaseball.com/past-events-1. Many of you who are visiting this page have already made your impact as well, by contributing generously to sponsor my participation in these events. I cannot thank you enough!
There is no greater cause than Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital. We are raising funds to help the hospital establish a MIBG therapy room. MIBG (metaiodobenzylguanidine) is a type of radiation therapy used to treat high-risk neuroblastoma, an aggressive pediatric cancer. Currently, only 15 hospitals nationwide are equipped to provide this therapy. Chicago and Nashville are the closest cities to St. Louis with hospitals able to do so. MIBG therapy requires the addition of a special lead-lined room that protects patients and staff, as well as an adjoining room where parents can stay in order to be in close proximity to their child throughout the therapy, which requires a week-long "quarantine." Please help support these efforts by sponsoring my participation in our next event, so that we can help provide more children the opportunity to "ring the bell" that signifies they are cancer-free!
Over Memorial Day Weekend 2019, we will hold our next baseball marathon: 50+ players split into two teams of two squads each, competing in a continuous game that will last approximately 80 hours!
To jump-start the publicity and fundraising efforts for the "main event", I was also part of a smaller group of 10 that spent 26+ hours over Memorial Day Weekend 2018 chasing the record for the longest continuous WiffleBall game. Due to the wonderful generousity of my family, friends, and neighbors, my initial fundraising goal was achieved! Now, with time still remaining before the baseball marathon, there is time to do even more to benefit this wonderful cause!
Thank you for making your way to this page to support my participation. It means a lot to me! And it means even more to the children and their families who will benefit directly from your generosity!
It sounds goofy to many - grown (old!) men playing a game from their childhood for a ridiculously long time. And while there will be no shortage of sleep-deprived fun and silliness, the bottom line is that we are doing this so that others receive the chance to live their childhoods.
