Tri My Best
Presented by Gardner Capital, Tri My Best is an adaptive triathlon for children with motor disabilities. After several years of virtual participation, 51 athletes were welcomed in September on the Washington University campus to bike, run and swim, with more than 300 volunteers cheering them along the course! Athletes train throughout the year and complete a triathlon tailored to each participant's mobility level. Tri My Best is designed to give the kids a reason to stay active throughout the year by promoting physical fitness and endurance outside of the hospital walls.

Lighting Up the Hospital with Yearslong Tradition
St. Louis Children's is getting in the spirit of the holidays! The 38th annual Love Light celebration returned to the hospital on November 30 to kick off the festive season. Sponsored by Gardner Capital, the day included surprise special guests, a holiday treat cart and a holiday show on our internal television channel. The evening was capped off with turning on the holiday lights, an annual tradition that featured two special patients and a performance by a circus performer.

FuNFest and Forward Strides
This year marked the 7th year for Forward Strides 4NF and the 12th year for FuNFest, two community events whose proceeds benefit patients at St. Louis Children's Hospital through the Neurofibromatosis (NF) Center at Washington University. NF is a condition that causes tumors to form in the brain, spinal cords and nerves. Forward Strides, hosted by the Wilburn family, is an awareness walk and FuNFest, hosted by the Walk family, is a family fun day at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. Both families have personally been affected by NF and together have raised more than $350,000 for NF research.

And the Total is ...
Pedal the Cause announced its 2022 donation total with a celebratory check presentation after a successful September weekend of events. $4,543,878 will go to Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Funding from vital partners like Pedal the Cause enables researchers at Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital to discover lifesaving treatments and cures for pediatric cancers and improve outcomes for kids and their families. 100% of the money raised will support new ideas in adult and pediatric cancer research not currently eligible for federal funding. This year's contribution brings the total funds donated by Pedal the Cause over the past 13 years to more than $40 million.

Through the St. Louis Children's Hospital Foundation, Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital received funds from Hyundai Hope On Wheels to continue pediatric cancer research in hopes of helping more kids like Quinn, Abigail and Kinslee, who helped us celebrate during Childhood Cancer Awareness Week. Congratulations to Dr. Jeff Bednarski, Dr. Maggie Ferris, their teams and our amazing families who take part in their work to find treatments for kids living with cancer.
